The Universal Transportation & Storage Trolley has been designed and developed and supplied for the movement of pre-assembled C130H, C130J and P3C QEC’s with and without propellers.
The prime objective is to offer a universal platform that provides end user flexibility, enhances mobility and provides safe long-term storage as well as safe transportation of the C130H, C130J and P3C QEC types, the unique design will improve the current design of transport and storage trolley.
The approach to the design of the universal trolley is concentrated in providing optimum achievement of flexibility, safety, usability and maintainability.
The universal trolley comprises of a Chassis and Detachable Extended Vertical Mast with diagonal braces to absorb the overhung loads of a C130H, C130J and P3 Orion QEC’s with and without propellers.
The trolley system thus allows the end user to select his application for the C130H, C130J and P3C Orion QEC’s without the costs and storage space constraints of individual trolleys built specifically for individual applications only.
Each complete Universal Transport & Storage Trolley consists of the following major elements:
- Chassis and Running gear inclusive of foam filled pneumatic tyres are fitted to each wheel to eliminate punctures and a loss of tyre pressure and thus reducing the risk of damage to rotative engine bearing assemblies, and installed propeller assemblies.
- A Detachable Extended Vertical Mast which incorporates the C130H/ J QEC mounting points as designed for the standard C130 QEC attachment without its respective propeller. The mast can be disassembled from the chassis and stowed using angle brackets for ease during transportation.
- The vertical mast has also been extended and incorporates an additional upper set of C130H/ J QEC mounting points as designed for the standard C130 QEC attachment, however, the upper set of mounts allow for the C130H/ J and P3C QEC’s to be fitted inclusive of their respective propellers.
- The vertical mast upper and lower cone mounts are designed to screw into the mounting blocks without the need for retaining plates to keep the removable cone mounts from falling out if a QEC is not fitted.
- Removable support (working platforms) to gain access to the right-hand and left-hand sides of the trolley.
- Removable access steps leading onto the front of the trolley.
- A tow-bar with an intermediate joint to allow the tow-bar to bend, fold and be stowed when not in use and fold and therefore prevent the tow-bar impacting with any of the propellers and QEC WVR (Water Paper Resistant “Aero-bags”) during transportation/ storage.
- A frame which folds and provides protection for the turbine section of each of the different QEC power plants.
The design of the universal trolley system also allows the end user to select his application of C130H, C130J and P3 Orion QEC Water Vapour Resistant (WVR) “Aero-bags” to use as a long term fully sealed preservation and storage solution prior to being installed onto the aircraft.
